Xiaomi Redmi K20 is the cheapest Snapdragon 855 based smartphone in the market. It comes with high-end specs bound to satisfy a different array of users. However, just like every other Android phone on the market, battery life saving is a priority among the users. In this article, we bring you a few tweaks that can be applied to your phone’s settings to extend battery life.

Lock Screen

One of the main ways in which battery drains in the Redmi K20 is when the display turns ON for every time you get a notification. This feature should be turned off. It can be replaced by notification LEDs. To turn off this feature follow the steps below.

  • Scroll down the top menu and tap on the gear-shaped settings icon.
  • Select the option that says ‘Lock screen & password’.
  • In the next tab, disable the option that says’Wake lock screen for notifications’ as shown in the picture given below.

This will prevent your Redmi K20’s display from being turned on every time you receive a notification and thereby saving battery power.

Smart cover Mode

The next way to save battery power is to turn off the Smart cover mode. This feature is useful only if you own a smart cover that lightens up the display upon opening the cover. You will be able to lock and unlock the phone automatically using smart cover. Turning off the Smart cover mode will switch off the Hall sensor. Thus battery life can be extended. To turn this feature off, follow the steps below.

  • As mentioned in the previous method, open the settings menu.
  • Again, tap on the ‘Lockscreen & fingerprint’ option.
  • Choose’ Advanced settings’
  • Now disable the option ‘Smart cover mode’

Animations

Catchy animation settings will be turned on by default and will be activated while you swipe through the menus. This option can be turned off to increase battery life. Hiding the system animations across the whole system UI will speed up the device’s performance and also save battery power. Follow the steps below to turn off the system animations.

  • Open the settings menu.
  • Tap on the Battery option.
  • Under the tab ‘performance’, you will find the option ‘system animations’. Choose the option’ Hide system animations’ as shown in the picture above.

Brightness

Changing the brightness of the display can also help you save battery life. A full brightness level at all external light conditions is a prime reason for wastage of battery life. You need not even change the brightness settings manually according to the light around you. Turning on the automatic brightness option from the menu at the top is enough. The phone will automatically adjust its brightness according to the outside lighting conditions using its sensors.

Vibrations

Turning off the vibrations whenever you touch the screen is another way in which you will be able to save battery life. In order to do this on your Redmi K20, follow the steps below.

  • From the settings menu, open the Sound & Vibration tab.
  • Tap on the option that says ‘Vibrate on Tap’.
  • From the pop-up menu that appears, choose ‘off’ as shown in the picture above.
  • Another vibration settings that you should turn off is the keyboard vibrations which activates as feedback for every touch of the screen. This can be found in the keyboard settings as shown in the picture below.
