Huawei is the parent company of Honor which has a few budget fitness bands out in the market. Here we review the Honor Band 5i based on its design, connectivity, battery backup, and other features. We analyze the pros and cons of this fitness band to help you see if it satisfies your requirements for a fitness band.

  • According to official reports, you can keep track of the oxygen saturation levels in your bloodstream using the Honor Band 5i after the software update for sPo2 function on the Huawei Health App that will be released before April 2020.
  • Using the app, you can change the watch faces as well.

Steps to install different watch faces

1. You will need to install the Huawei Mobile Services App.
2. A Huawei ID has to be created from the website. This registration procedure cannot be done from the app.
3. Now come back to the app settings and add your Huawei account in your app.
4. Install the Huawei Health App from the playstore.
5. Finally, add your fitness band and you are ready to install the watch faces.


  • The fit band can sync with any Android phone using the Android KitKat or higher and iOS 9.0 or higher. You will need to download the Huawei Health app to connect your Honor Band 5i with your fitness band.
  • With the Honor Band 5i, you can remotely control the camera of Huawei and Honor smartphones using Android Oreo or higher.


  • The Honor Band 5i uses a rechargeable polymer Li-ion battery that gives up to 7days of battery back up. If you continuously run your app’s heart rate monitor and sleep tracker at full brightness, it will last for about 4 days.
  • The charging time taken for fully charging the battery of Honor Band 5i is approximately one hour.
  • The fitness band has a built-in USB connector for easy charging. The charging port is hidden within the strap. You won’t need any other charging cable to charge your watch.


  • No need of carrying a charger everywhere you go. You can simply hook it up to a laptop or power bank directly to charge it.
  • The sleep tracker and step counter is highly accurate
  • Different watch faces for separate occasions like party, work, home are available.
  • You will be able to control music from your watch.
  • If priced under 2000 on Amazon at the time of purchase, go for it. It is certainly a good alternative for the Mi Band4.

  • No AMOLED screen.
  • SPO2 updates are expected to come by March 2020. If it is an important requirement for you, better wait for it or buy another watch.
  • Watch faces are hard to install
  • It can only remotely control the camera of Huawei and Honor phones.


The Honor Band 5i is certainly a fitness band worthy of its price tag. I bought it for Rs.1999 from Amazon and it was almost the same quality as the Mi Band4 which was priced above Rs.2300 at the time. If your requirement matches the pros given above and the cons are given do not matter much to you, certainly go for it.
