Every day, new smartphones are released into market which are more powerful than previous. This is really good if you have lots of money spending to buy new gadgets and keep updating with the technology. But when it comes to most people, their phones will become outdated after a few months even when they’ve managed to get the latest one when they bought it. Of course app developers go loose on taking up the resources like RAM as the standard is increasing day by day. This causes relatively older mobiles under perform gradually as new app updates are out.

One way to solve this problem is to freeze the apps that are heavy running in the background but you rarely use them. You can do this by installing an app called Link2SD. I think its a great app that not only allows you to freeze app but it will also let you link your apps to SD card so that you can free up more memory on your phone.  Freezing an app means disabling that app in the system. Once an app is freezed it cant run even if it is installed. You know installing and uninstalling apps take a lot of time but Freeze/Unfreeze takes only a second. When you want to run the app, you could just unfreeze. The benefit of freezing apps is that it prevents it from running in the background, downloading data and draining your battery when you don’t even use it.

Here’s how to do it.

  • Install Links2SD from play store
  • Long press on the app you want to freeze, select Freeze from the menu.
