Today, The Korean company Samsung launched its phablet devices in its popular galaxy series – GALAXY MEGA. please don’t start blaming for “phablet” that was not a spelling mistake. For those who don’t know, phablet can be called a new kind of device which has been hybrid of a phone and tablet. Did you Notice the title of this post?. The 5.8 and 6.3 are the display sizes specified even in the name of the phone. (I know its phablet huh?). The Galaxy Mega 6.3 (Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 I9200) is known to be the biggest smartphone till date (Keep in mind that 7inch tablets are very common and popular). Devices with such giant screen runs on the latest Android 4.2 jelly bean version.
Being more detailed, Samsung launched two Galaxy Mega smartphones in India, one with 5.8 inch screen and other with 6.3 inches.
Galaxy Mega 6.3 technical specifications
- Camera – 8 megapixel rear and 1.9 MP front / Auto focus and LED flash
- CPU – Dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait
- Connectivity features – NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
- 3G connectivity
- Graphics processing unit (GPU) – Adreno 305
- Memory – 8GB internal & upto 64GB Expandable.
- RAM – 1.5GB
The other device Galaxy Mega has got almost the same configuration except it has a 1.4Ghz dual-core processor and obviously, a 5.8-inch screen. Due to this fact there’s also Rs.6000 plus price difference between these two phones. Mega 6.3 costs Rs 31,490 and the other one Mega 5.8 is priced at Rs 25,100. Since the phone is just launched today, it seems it hasn’t reached the dealers yet. I checked online websites like flipkart but no signs of pre-order or “coming soon” news. Anyway we may have to wait a bit longer for actual product to launch in our hands.
