If you are familiar with Xiaomi smartphones that are running MIUI android skin, you know what I am talking about. By default a wallpaper carousel is activated in MIUI which will keep rotating the lock screen wallpaper. The idea is to keep the user away from boredom by displaying fresh wallpapers instead of a permanent one. In this post, we will show you how to disable the wallpaper carousel in MIUI phones like Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4 etc so that you can have a permanent picture in your lock screen. This is applicable to most of the MIUI versions like MIUI 8 /MIUI9.
How to disable/remove wallpaper carousal in Mi Smartphones
- Go to Settings > Wallpaper
- Tap on Wallpaper carousal under lock screen.
- Under categories, uncheck all the options which you dont want to display.
If you are sure that you dont need this feature anymore, you can go ahead and uninstall it forever. For that:
- Go to Settings > Installed apps
- Find the app “Wallpaper carousal”
- Tap uninstall.
When you change a theme, the wallpaper carousal should get automatically disabled. The similar feature is available in many other smartphones in different names. For example, in some SONY smartphones it is called lock screen album art. It is a great feature when you want your smartphone to rotate and display a collection of images.
In MIUI auto-rotating lock screen wallpaper carousal we can select the categories of pictures which we want to display. We can set “Update over Wi-Fi” option to keep updating your selections so that whenever there is a new picture online in Xiaomi contents website, it gets automatically downloaded to your smartphone and it will display it. There are many categories from which you can select your favorite pictures from – Scenery, Lifestyle, general are some of the categories. Offline category will show the pictures downloaded to your device.
Note that the wallpaper carousal will only rotate wallpapers in lockscreen. If you want to have similar feature for home screen, download apps like “Wallpaper changer” from play store.
