When it comes to powerful wireless music speakers, JBL flip series is the one which comes to our mind. But do you have the budget? Well, It is true that most of the wireless speakers from JBL or Bose are pretty costly. But what if you could get a powerful sounding speaker at a budget range. For a price under 3000 Indian Rupees Boat Stone 1000 is your answer for this. Here’s the Boat Stone 1000 Bluetooth speaker review, pros, and cons. Before getting into the review, let’s take a quick look at the specifications.

Boat Stone 1000 Bluetooth Speaker Specifications

  • 14-watt stereo output
  • Bluetooth and AUX connectivity
  • Call support – inbuilt mic
  • 3000 mAh battery –  10 hours of music playback
  • IPX5 rating – water and shock resistant

Coming to the Bluetooth version, we really find something sad about this. There’s nowhere in the box it has mentioned. We contacted the company for it and they said the Bluetooth version is 2.1 + EDR which is quite disappointing on a speaker of this price range.

Design & build quality

Like other Boat Stone speakers like Boat Stone 400, the design is pretty basic and there is no beautification made by the company to uplift the look and feel. It feels pretty solid, as from the pictures it is quite large too. It’s covered in rubberized plastic, the front metal grill is strong enough to protect your speakers from damage.

This wireless speaker is IPX5 certified water resistance and shock resistant. This protects the speakers from splashes and spills. but keep note that you can’t submerge this under water.

The controls are located on the left side of the speaker. The controls are in a dark background, it is quite difficult to identify these keys in a dark place.

You have the volume up/down keys to control the volume, you can change the tracks previous/next by long pressing either of them. There’s a mode button is also given using which you can change the mode of the speaker from AUX to wireless and vice versa. This is helpful in case your audio source doesn’t have bluetooth.

The backside has a groove which covers the charging port and the 3.5 mm AUX input. You can connect a 5 v normal micro USB charger to charge it up.

Another noting feature is the grab handle. As I mentioned earlier, the speaker is quite big in size, so the grab handle helps you to carry it around. For a  speaker that weighs 1.5 Kg, a grab handle is a must though. If you are looking for portability, Boat Stone 1000 may not be the one you should be looking at. But on the flip side, you get extra loudness and a big 3000 mAh battery.

Pairing the speaker is as simple as turning it ON. It will connect automatically to your smartphone once you select the speaker from the bluetooth list.

Sound Performance

The speaker sounds loud and clear. But the base is not up to the expectations you have from a speaker of this size. So if you are a bass savvy user, then this might not be the best. Also, if you sit beside the speakers with high volume, the sound will feel a bit distorted. But that should not be a concern since you won’t even notice it in practical use and this speaker is meant to be a party or an outdoor speaker.

Battery life

When it comes to battery life, Boat is claiming 10 hours of battery life. While testing the speaker at 50% volume, the speaker gave around 10 hours of battery backup. But playing it on full volume killed the battery in around 5 hours.

Verdict

The Boat Stone 1000 is great for people who want loud and clear sound. But if you are a bass loving music fan, you might want to look at some other options too. This doesn’t mean the speaker doesn’t have bass at all, but the speaker size and bass isn’t matching on this one. If you are a person who goes outings on regular bases and doesn’t care about the size or weight of a speaker, you should go for it.
